I’m paying homage to Frank Sinatra with my rendition of “Nice ‘n’ Easy,” a classic tune written by Alan Bergman. It’s worth noting that Alan’s wife, Marilyn, is also a talented writer. The album featuring this track was released back in 1960, and I’ve included a fun version with Gene Kelly adding his dancing flair to the song. I’m also working on incorporating some alternate lyrics for future performances.
“Nice ‘n’ Easy” is Frank Sinatra’s eighteenth studio album, which hit the shelves on July 25, 1960. Nelson Riddle arranged and conducted all the songs, except for the title track. Interestingly, the title song was a last-minute addition, replacing “The Nearness of You,” which was originally planned for the album but didn’t make the cut.
This album soared to the top, spending nine weeks at number one on the Billboard stereo album chart and one week at number one on the mono album chart. At the 1960 Grammy Awards, “Nice ‘n’ Easy” received nominations for Album of the Year, Best Male Vocal Performance, and Best Arrangement.
I’ve provided links to Frank Sinatra’s actual performances of each song to keep the focus on him, as that’s the essence of my tribute. My goal is to promote live performances of Frank Sinatra’s music in Lancaster, PA, and New Jersey.
